In the interest of improving CurbsideClassics, it is better to give feedback rather than just turn away. The cutesy, back-handed snipes at Brougham give nothing of interest and are tired and old. One could pick any car style and spend countless hours mocking with 20-20 hindsight, but why bother? Not at all interesting. Stay positive and avoid sneering at trends you can never understand — someday, others will be sneering at blogs, Facebook and ipods in the same way, when they become outdated styles and trends. Why not go after 8-track tape decks for a while and give us a break.
Joe, I can’t speak for others, but my opinions on cars, including Broughams, were formed as an adult, since I’m old enough to have lived (and survived) through the Great Brougham Epoch.
I may have had my strong opinions of them at the time, but I embrace them as a significant era of the automotive history. But it’s a controversial one, and there’s no point in telling folks how to feel in matters of taste. Humor is part of that reality, and it isn’t only Broughams that folks feel strongly about. It’s just the nature of cars, and we encourage honesty in discussing them. That does tend to bother some folks, but it’s just part of the reality of what CC is.
