That was my first thought tho the year would have escaped me
The infamous taillight distinguishes it as a 1976. Infamous because the amber turn signal indicator lens is a fake; there’s no bulb behind it and the turn indicator is just the dual-intensity red taillight above it. It’s as if the Vega design team cheaped out every chance they got 🙂

One of my pet peeves is the switch from amber rear turn signals to red. They’re much less visible in some conditions.

There’s an era of automotive sheet metal where I can guess the car based on a headrest, a turn indicator, strakes, pin stripes, antenna etc. My wife, now that we’re working our way through all the Rockford Files seasons finds it laughable that I hit pause and point at a small % of louvers and shout Celica!
I can’t / couldn’t / won’t do the same for the current crop of CUVs.

Citroen GS ?
I never get these clues right, but on this one I immediately thought “Vega”. The 70s-80s is my sweet spot for identifying cars and trucks by one small bit.
I must have a case of Malaisadosis.
I wonder what it would be like to drive a Cosworth Vega? They never found their way into the collector car price bubble, so examples can be occasionally found in good shape with low miles. Any buff mag reviews?

I was stumped this morning, but tried again this evening (without looking at any of the other comments) — guessed 1974 Chevy Cosworth Vega! Very close as it turns out!
Citroën GS
I can identify cars from the 1980’s to now but always trying to expand my knowledge to older years… but my closest guess based on the light was a Series I/II Jaguar XJ.
I think mentioning “RPO” kind of spoils the challenge as it would apparently zoom the choices down to GM?
Parts of it look like a car and tailight, the rest like gaps, so I’m going with something GM, 1975-2000.

I thought it was theLancia Beta. Or “sedan” as it was called at some point in the US. Specifically, that 5 door, but that black with the gold stripe does tell the real Cosworth Vega truth.
