The engine in the back is one of the worst engineering moves ever, and it is just dumb…

Try a Hillman Imp if you want real problems they had several clever features that didnt work properly
I have actually driven a Hillman Imp with the pneumatic throttle. I think they only used those for the first 6 months or so before changing to a cable.

The wagon is a 1999-1/2 judging by those wheel covers. I’m amaized it still has the logos in the wheel centers. They usually come unglued by 80k.
Interesting that we have the vehicle that built much of VW’s cult following helping the vehicle the completely incinerated VW’s reputation. The 1999-1/2 Jetta is probably the worst built Volkswagen ever. Just ask if you want to hear any of the horror stories about our VW stable.
Lol, CC-effect kind of: I have a set of those VW wheel covers on the wall of my garage. About 3 wks ago I backed my Nissan into the garage as usual, switched it off and opened the driver’s door. There was a dull “plink”, as one of those VW logos fell off the wheel cover and landed at my feet… The wheel cover’s never been on a car, so I guess the glue lasts 80K or 14 years, whichever comes first 😉
