I didn’t see a sign on the side that says “free candy”, but I guess the bug guard takes care of that……
With all the vent windows cracked, it conjures up stereotypes of smoking dope.

I should be counting the large number of Dodge powered Class 1 Motor Homes from the 1970’s that folks are living in permanently in Los Angeles , often parked in nose to tail rows…

On another note, I never knew the old B-Series/Ram Vans had pop-out rear windows. Wouldn’t that be counterintuitive to hotboxing, though?
If it were Israel, a plumber or similar, probably just starting a business and most likely not interested in providing any receipts. If it were Austria, someone who wants to get into the “American way of drive” but whose budget does not extend to anything more than the above.
The descriptions “Passion-Pit” or “Sin-Bin” come to mind!

Nah, those would need an airbrushed mural on the side, mag wheels, and a “bubble window” at the rear side flanks. This just looks like a commercial van in not very good shape.
I would love to see an in-depth pictorial of ’70s customized vans. I remember how popular these once were, then around 1980 they all suddenly disappeared. What happened?
I once had a ’74 Econoline exactly as you described. What happened is that the next generation of young men moved on to the mini truck. Lowered and customized Datsun, Chevy LUV, Toyota, and other Japanese pickups appeared as the vans rusted away.

The windows being opened, and not covered provide a contrast to what initially comes to mind when seeing the bug guard on the front. The MN plates that are a far way from home makes you wonder why, exactly, it is so far from home?

Think about it – where else in America but Oregon and its curbside classics would parking an old heap in a good part of town not precipitate several calls to local law enforcement by worried mothers and nosey old people?

C’mon, nothing wrong here. Sammy Davis Jr’s old camper van somebody bought years ago.
Sammy’s “Candy Man” and Clint Holmes “Playground in my Mind” both were “big” records when I was a kid (about 10 Y.O.) Today, Either of these records would put you on a “list”! (or at least make for a Law &, Order SVU episode,)
There are people who listen to a group of actual clowns (face paint and all) that talk about all sorts of things that’d get you sent to a psychiatric facility immediately. I’m pretty sure you’re safe. That being said, you might want to introduce people to that music. ’70s rock and roll is starting to become an astonishing unknown among young people. They can vaguely remember the tune to extremely popular songs, but it’s difficult for them to put a name to the music. God forbid if you play Return To Forever’s Sorceress and ask them what it is.
Yes, I guess I’m relatively safe as a 54 Y.0. who has enough firepower (British .303 and US .357 to stop any army of invading clowns. (Believe it or not, “Clown” masked A-holez have been doing crimes in Ohio and Pennsylvania.. And I have a Metric f#@*tonne of “bad news if they try it here…) As to music, I do Ragtime to Hard rock, (Scott Joplin,Glenn Miller, Elvis, Beatles,Led Zeppelin….) All of which my 15 Y.O. niece “totally digs…) So there’s that.

Neat catch indeed and interesting to see old and/or atypical vehicles far from home. The collision damage on the passenger side is mystifying and this Ram Van is reasonably rust free for being from the salt belt.
When my folks and I first entered Western Oregon on U.S 199 we encountered a White Ram Van Cargo from Oregon with a wolf mural at the first rest stop. There were five adults and one baby all of whom looked like Bohemians that piled out of the vehicle. After getting the baby’s diaper changed they hopped back in and the last I saw of them was near the Grant’s Pass Shari’s
