Recently, the modern Challenger was discussed during Mopar Week. One thing mentioned was the availability of white interiors in the new ones. I had thought that only the 2010 Furious Fuchsia limited edition had it, but recently I saw one in the wild that made me think otherwise. It was hard to miss at the Classy Chassy cruise night in Coralville, since we parked right next to it!
Looks factory, doesn’t it? As far as I know, the Challenger came only with a black interior since the SRT-only inaugural ’08 model, other than the aforementioned Fuchsia version.
Here’s the back seat. It actually looks livable, unlike the back seat of the original E-bodies. And of course I love anything with a white interior. Can’t stand black or “graphite” as they get way too hot in the summertime.
So, is it factory or dealer-installed? I don’t know, but I like it. And I know for a fact that you can get Radar Red leather in the 2013 Challengers–very welcome to someone like me, who has been losing patience with boring interior colors since the late ’90s. Let’s hope they keep it up.
A welcome change from the plastic grey interior that has spread everywhere like some form of toxic automotive herpes. It’d be a chore to keep clean and unscuffed though.
As an aside, I want to get a white Challenger and put a personalized plate on it like ‘VnishPt’ or ‘Kwalski’.
There was a dealer somewhere in the US that did offer a special run of SRT-8’s with a “Vanishing Point” edition, they were SRT-8’s with a factory stripe delete.

anyone else suffer from glare when driving in a white interior?
My Volvo C30 has very much the same layout as this Dodge, white seats and inserts with a flat black dash. I think that combo helps keep the glare problems to a minimum, at least for me.
I’ve always driven cars with light interiors and haven’t had that problem. It really depends on the dash materials. My Acura TSX has light “taupe” (which doesn’t look much different from this Challenger) with black dash and glare has never been noticeable.
Nope, never. I’ve had/have several daily drivers over the years with white interior & it will always be my favorite.
I like these a lot,not as much as a new Mustang but a lot more than the new Camaro.I’d have a Furious Fuschia Challenger right now if I had the money.I don’t think a white interior is practical,I’ll stick to boring black with maybe a contrasting insert or piping.
As soon as I read about the Furious Fuchsia edition, I thought “Gem will have something to say about that.” 🙂
I’ve driven a factory blue on white SRT-8 Challenger press car, so I’m pretty sure they have a white interior option, but I thought it was reserved only for the top of the line SRT-8, never seen a low spec Challenger with a white interior, red yes, but no white, could be a really nice dealer installed leather interior?
It’s almost “too” white, like Boss Hoggs Cadillac, in fact the cars shape and its all white look gives me a bizzaro Dukes of Hazzard vibe where Boss Hogg is the good guy(Smokey IS the Bandit!)
It needs something to break it up, how about a nice black aligator grain vinyl top? And some redlines?
Actually, if you want a more interesting colour in your car, katzkin makes a variety of different colours. You can order a basic car with cloth upholstery and have the seats covered in whatever colour/style you like. It’s a lot cheaper and easier than getting a whole lot of unnecessary things just to get leather.
That’s the name of the company that I was thinking of, I remember them from my old car sales days.

My 1965 300L had that color interior, except that the seat inserts were also white.
I don’t know about the ’65s, but in ’66 the bucket seats were available either way, either all white or with the black center panel, if you got the black and white interior.
I can just picture my 3 year daughter back there with SpongeBob fruit snacks and nacho cheese Doritos.

Great colour to keep clean notI’ll stick with black or grey white cars have a generic fleet look about them.
It is available that way. First one I saw was a Challenger 392 Hemi at the Honolulu Car Show in 2011. It would be nice to see more cars available with colorful interiors aside from skid mark tan, mouse fur brown, charcoal and black airport terminal shades.
I’m sure the McDonalds isn’t doing that interior any good.
Since a white dash and carpeting are not practical you end up with red or blue trim usually. The cut up shapes, where for example a white trim panel is placed on a darker door panel, make for a series of eyesores throughout the car.
Then of course there is the premature aging and soiling of the white leather itself. The stitches usually darken at about 15,000 miles no matter how nicely the car is kept. I just never got the appeal.
I don’t like light colored interiors in general, but a white one like this would be a nightmare to keep clean and like you said, the seams would get dark unless you bought seat covers and what’s the point of leather if you do?
It’s not factory, sadly. The Furious Fuschia had white seating surfaces but the sides of the seat were still dark gray. This is a custom job, made more obvious to me because the center section doesnt have as many “rolls” as the factory leather.

The rolls just rule it out from being the Furious Fuschia package. The base interiors use the same pattern as featured.
I’m inclined to agree with you though that it’s a dealer custom job. What raises my eyebrow is that usually those only consist of the seat skins themselves. The fact that it has the door panel inserts, arm rests and headliner all in matching white makes the conversion a fairly extensive process.
Maybe the base fabric (which I’ve never seen) but the regular dark gray leather has the small rolls as well. I should know, I have a 2010 Hemi Orange R/T with the leather seats. 🙂
But yeah, this is very thorough as custom jobs go.
I think thats sort of like the white interior of the SRT-8 that drove.
I don’t think the headliner was changed, its off white/tan grey, which I think comes on these already, depending on what color uphostery it started off with at the factory.
Wow, white headliner too! That might actually be a little much for my taste, though I love the seats.

I agree. With the variety of stripe kits available for the new Challenger, those pinstripes are meh. On this white car, I think the R/T style double stripe in red would look good, but I’m also partial to “strobe” stripes like on the 1970 AAR Cuda.

Normally I wouldn’t want a white interior for the same reason I hate tan or beige, it ages terribly and gets dirty too easily. But I can totally see a Plum Crazy SRT8 with white leather!
The 1988 Corvette Anniversary Edition is not impressed.
The Chevy gave you white seats, white rims, white paint, white door panels, and a white steering wheel.
That’s a bit much. I bet that white steering wheel would get dirty very quickly.
I remember the “polar bear” 88 Corvette anniversary edition, I sat in one on the showroom froor, I thought it was pretty fresh in 88.
White interior (with Dark Slate Gray trim) is not on the option list for Challenger on Dodge.com…only Dark Slate Gray or Radar Red (with Dark Slate Gray trim) appear as choices on both 2013 & 2014 option lists. Must be a custom leather upholstery. I was told by a local Subaru dealer that custom leather could be ‘added’ to any car they sold… Probably what the customer did.
The Fiat 500 does come with White Trim on some levels. I’ve only had the car for three week, so I can’t testify as how hard it to keep clean.
You can actually get white leather on a Dodge Journey Crew or a Dart Limited. The subject car’s leather is not factory though. I think that may be aftermarket Katzkin leather.
The radar red is avaliable in the 300s as well and as soon as one is avaliable within 300km of me I will be there to see if the 300 is an acceptable ride for me and my family. I like the looks and the red guts kinda add to the whole car, but I want to know how that aging platform drives before I buy. They are popular here as dealers cant keep them on the lots and I see them everywhere (except on the lots).
The white looks great, even though it wouldn’t be my choice for obvious maintenance/wear reasons. If that leather were red, I’d call it perfect. But anything that expands the range of the industry’s pathetically limited interior color choices is fine by me. We’re overdue for a revival of colorful car innards. It’ll happen, I’m sure; a matter of when, not if.
Looks great in white. And it gives you a better perspective of the space inside the interior. With the back interior it was always hard to tell how much leg room was just available in front of the rear seat.
“And of course I like anything with a white interior.” I am totally with you on that, Tom. Oh, and I also dig the Radar Red interior which is also available but rarely seen on Chargers and Avengers. While a Mopar guy, like you, I was unaware that white and Radar Red was now available on the Challenger. So far, the only Challenger I’ve owned was a ’71 I got in 1976. Any new car was out of the question back in the day when I was young. But, I’ve often had more than one (used) car at a time.
