We’ve made some changes under the hood, which should eliminate the annoying warnings some of you have been getting, and that chewed up your thoughtful comments. An explanation from David Saunders, our tech man, after the jump.

It seems to be a somewhat common WordPress issue. It is related to post flood prevention. The system is trying to stop spammers from mass posting. Sometimes the issue comes from folks who post from a larger school or workplace or even ISP where the end users all appear to share the same IP address. It is possible to disable flood control on the site but not recommended as then the spammer can create a mess. Not sure where this leaves us unfortunately. There is no setting to make it less sensitive – just on or off.
And it’s off, for now, unless we a problem with mass spam attacks. We do have a spam filter which is quite effective, so hopefully that will be adequate.

Great! But do they all have to be thoughtful comments? That may limit my contributions more than the filter…
One or two word comments can sometimes get flagged as spam. Other than that no thoughtful filtering. 🙂

Since I often type very long comments, being concise not one of my flaws, I thought it would be funny to just type “meh” on one. I think it was for a Subaru Justy on blocks. The comment just seemed to be gone, and my son told me one word comments probably get blocked as spam. I am trying to make my comments thoughtful. But do they have to be “rational” thoughts? I have seen faces in cars since my first memories, and the faces are a lot different than when cars had round headlights and such. The new Avalon looks like a visual depiction of a migraine headache, for example. See? Not concise. Sometimes I just have to stop myself in the middle of a sen

I just got the error again. It was a two paragraph comment on the most recent post. I was not logged in so typed my name and email manually. I’m not the world’s fastest typist either. But it worked great the last couple of days so not sure…
I had this problem trying to post here. I’ve also had an “invalid email adress” message, too (I know it was correct). I’m not sure if I ever “registered”(?) for this site, I just fill in the blanks.
I’ve re-typed this, having just been warned “I’m posting too fast”.
Well that is disappointing that it is still happening. Did anyone get the message while logged in?
