The Sundance was the Sebring to have in 1974, even if it didn’t have an actual sunroof. My mother would have loved that upholstery; reminds me so much of my parent’s living room all too few years ago. Too bad the Sundance wasn’t an option in her 1972 Coronet wagon, otherwise…

That was a “spring special” edition, in the same theme as the 1973 Chrysler Newport “Navajo”. There just happens to be a 73 Navajo in excellent condition for sale on Craigslist right now, with some good pics.

If anyone can find a 1973 Chrysler Mariner, I will be impressed. The Mariner was a nautical-themed spring special version of the Newport. It was upholstered in the heavier vinyl that you’d normally associate with motorboat seats. It even had a round porthole window in the C-pillar. Talk about a land yacht.
Come out to the Belvedere Mopar show. I know of at least 1 Mariner, a 300 Hurst and one of those funky Baracudas with the floral pattren vinyl top and matching interior.
Used to have pics of all the oddballs out here, I can’t for the life of me find them though.

My favorite is the Pierre Cardin designed interiors for the AMC Javelins in 1971-73.
The Sundance somehow seems like the Doris Day signature edition …. and I mean that in the nicest possible way.
My folks owned a 225cid three on the tree manual steering manual brakes steelies with dog dish hubcaps with that interior. It was the first car I drove.
I had a ’74 Satellite Sundance, got it brand new when I was 16 as a birthday gift from my grandparents. Aztec Gold, 318 v8, I loved that car.It didn;t have a vinyl roof, just paint the same as the bosy. It had all the decals, though. I loved the yellow and white interior. I put over 100,000 miles on it in less than 5 years. Very few mechanical problems. I remember that you had to buckle your seatbelt before it would start. Color choices in cars today are boring, bordering on ugly.
I had a 73 Satellite that was B5 blue with a white vinyl top and B5 bench seat interior.
One of the Sundance Satellites showed up in junkyard that I would go to literally on a daily basis.
I took the interior out of the Sundance and put it in my Satellite. Can’t recall for sure whether the Sundance was gold or white. I kinda want to say it was white. I also had a Road Runner hood on my Satellite from a factory 318 Road Runner. Interesting combination car I built.
I owned a new 74 Satellite Sundance Edition until 1979. Had to trade it for a more family-friendly car. I wish I still had it! My all-time favorite car! Impossible to know how many were built as the Sundance package along with any other option package weren’t tracked in Chrysler production records.
