It’s an English Ford Zephyr alright, around 1952. I think one of these cars won the Monte Carlo Rally around that time, which was a very big deal.

Nope, that’s definitely a 1961 Rambler Ambassador with air conditioning, power windows and the split-bench front seats with built-in electric back massagers (“Magic Fingers”). The American Mercedes indeed.
