There isn’t a great deal to be said about KiwiBryce’s photo of this refreshing spin on the now banal stick figure family decal. Jason Vorhees never used a chainsaw, and Leatherface never wore a hockey mask, but apparently that was not a concern when combining the two into an adorable caricature.

Wow, I have long wondered whatever happened to “Chainsaw Al” Dunlap, the hotshot business exec of the 90s (Scott Paper, Sunbeam) who ran into all that legal trouble. It appears he is alive and well and living in New Zealand.

This is certainly more upbeat than all the “In Memory Of” decorations that are so prevalent on any glass surface. However, this does seem like it might lead to the survivors having memory dedications.
I was a little taken aback by that last time I was in the US. It happens a bit here but nothing like the scale of memorials there.
I don’t think my loved ones would appreciate being immortalized on a rusty Cavalier anyway…

My sentiments exactly. Told the wife she is welcome to put a sticker on my car when I’m dead so long as it says I was a stupid dumass or something along that line. BTW I do hope she either cremates me and leaves the dirt in the trunk or sprinkled on the floor mats or at the very least uses my car as a coffin to bury me in.
The best send-up of the stick family was one with only two stick figures, ostensibly the driver and “your mom”.
I saw one like that in a similar vein last weekend. The two stick figures were in the doggie-style position.

That one is my favourite one too. I wouldn’t put one of these on my vehicle anyhow, but I’d be in the doghouse if I did. My wife put a stick figure family on her CR-V.
What’s worse, she wouldn’t let me pick the character that was supposed to represent me. I’m just some generic guy.
Yeah, they are funny but I wouldn’t actually put one on my truck.
On the other hand, I’d never put stick figure family, memorial, or honor roll stickers on it ether. Thankfully, my wife was a similar opinion on them.
Public adoration of family values such as stick figure families, “baby on board” signs, memorials of loved ones, or pride in a child’s school work does not warrant smart ass insults such as these. Your neighbor’s public displays of affection shouldn’t make you want to kill them, even in jest.
Be nice. This kind of juvenile humor crap makes doesn’t make you look better than the folks you are annoyed with. Its just stupid.
Lighten up dude. You’ve been here long enough to know that every aspect of somebody’s taste in cars and what they put on them is fair game on this site.
+1 Anyone adorning their vehicle with such crap should expect a little negative to go with the positive….the same goes for some of the condescending comments here.

And just to show how we all have our laspes now and then, I had “Oakley” and “Fear This” stickers on my high school ride in the 90’s. I won’t go into what else I added to that 88HP Mustang, but needless to say, I can’t make fun of these stick people without making fun of myself.
I’ve only ever seen a “Fear This” sticker on one vehicle where I thought it was appropriate. 🙂

There are two public middle schools in my hometown. One has honor-student bumper stickers, the other doesn’t. None of the elementary schools do, nor the high school. Nor any schools, public or private, in the surrounding towns…
I’m guessing “we tried it, it didn’t increase the number of kids making the honor roll, but we might as well keep handing them out until they’re gone” is the explanation here.

I’ve never applied any bumper stickers to any of my vehicles… but I did have a “Drive It Like You Stole It” sticker on my (grossly overpowered) homebuilt go-kart. I was twelve at the time 🙂

I assure you all I’ve never had the thought of putting any of those stick figure families, or any other sticker or decal on my vehicles, but I have wondered where people go to buy them. Because I’ve never seen them in any store I’ve been in. But, just as I type that I realize I pay at the pump with a card at most gas stations, so they might be at gas stations. It was a novelty at first, but the stick families of today are like the late ’80s after the Baby On Board signs had caught on big time after a number of years. On rare occasions, I still spot a Baby On Board sign. I do think this parody one we’re commenting on is really hilarious. This is a cool diversion from the usual CCs.
I get a little uncomfortable when I see stick figures with missing appendages. 😉
It is ok to let folks put lame stuff on their cars. It isn’t worth the cost and effort to mock them. If it makes folks happy, let them.
I have a few observations, while the stick figures started off cute, as LiteWerk observed, they have “jumped the shark” and become ripe for parody.
On the humorous side, I did recently see a picture with zombie figures captioned, “My family ate your stick figure family”. I have also seen the DINK (dual income no kids) version with 2 adult stick figures surrounded by possessions and $ signs, and of course the crazy cat lady stick figures.
On a more serious side, I have heard of the stick families with names under them referred to as pedophile targeting systems.
Personally I would never put stick figures or my kid is an honor student stickers on my car, although I do have an Oregon Bicycle Racing Association sticker to advertise my family’s chosen sport.
