Wow, that is hideous, and yes it does look like it is sagging in the middle, none of the lines match up and it looks so cheap and plasticy. Terrible design work all around with this thing.

Hmm, around here, the blinged out travesties tend to be H2s with deer-hunter racks and no signs of ever being off paved roads (that’s hard to do in this county!). I’ll take seeing one of them over this POS. The white-walled dubs are a “nice” touch. Got any eye-bleach?
While this thing is undoubtedly awful it is surprising how the rear end styling and doors of the XLR integrate much better than I would have suspected. With the added width and length this thing must be huge.

I like the spare tire carriers, that looks so much more convenient than my minivan. Full size even! And just think of the safety all that extra crush zone gives you.
I bet my Grand Caravan would look good with that treatment. Well, at least it wouldn’t look worse. Probably. Don’t know if it would fit in the garage though.

How could it be? On second thought, it is, slightly. And this is the 21st century; those were from a while back. One would think time (and taste) have moved on.
I think it is since the car it is based on had a wedge shape that gives it that sagging in the middle look.

That car was made by Palazzi Motors of Kingsville Ontario Canada and is called a “Godfather Roadster.” The treatment is not limited to the XLR, supposedly the Lexus S430 is also popular, as is the “Retrobird.”

You people here are lucky, I’ve seen one in person, I couldn’t scrub my eyes hard enough. A sucker brought one of these to a cruise in, and he was really proud it and annoyed if anyone made fun of it, as most low IQ purchasers of these must be, I really wanted to take a crowbar to it.
People laughed at it enough that he was never seen at the cruise in again.
The windscreen is wrong – to be in period, it needs to be more upright.

In the 80s, someone in the U.S. was making a replica of the Auburn boattail speedster that was very hard to distinguish from the original. The modern wheels and tires was the only giveaway.

Its for sale in Milwaukee from what I remember when I was searching a well noted local dealer for E36 convertibles.
Only in a city like Milwaukee where people drink to excess would this terror be for sale. I’d need a few dozen Schlitz’s before I could set foot near it.

Some guy has an old Zimmer Quicksilver (mint condition!) that he parks in his driveway off a busy street around here, and I have to admit the thing has presence. It’s got killer chrome blade bumpers and the heart of a Fiero. What’s not to like?
