The Esprit Clue went on the first guess (again); ltd being the one to do it. Congratulations. I apologize for it not appearing today; it took a dive underwater, and seems not to have resurfaced. But I’m sure it will re-appear eventually.

Looks like a Ford C-pillar, with the Thunderbird-type roof.
At first I wanted to say it may be a black ’62 Fairlane, just like the car good Paul had been tortured by in his childhood. But ummm… wouldn’t that be too obvious ? And, the curved moulding looks wrong for a Fairlane, too. But it may look just right for a Mercury. So my guess is – a 1962 or maybe ’63-’64 Mercury. A top-of-the line model, maybe a Marauder (?).
I’m feeling the Marauder as well.
