Camouflage or mimicry happens extensively in nature, as a defensive measure. Given the high number of old Volvos in Eugene, I suppose I can’t totally blame this Panther for wanting to fit in. But it’s taken the camo thing a bit far, don’t you think?
Here’s the funny thing about this scene: I didn’t notice the Volvo grille on that CV until I was just now looking at the picture at home. All I saw was the camo and the teeth added to that bull/push bar or whatever it is. When I’m looking at the camera screen, I’m seeing the shot, not the details. Plus we were in a hurry.
And I certainly hadn’t noticed the Volvo next it appears to be missing its grille.
It reminds me of a modern version of the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere police car, with the battering ram front end, that the psycho sheriff drove in the movie, “The California Kid’. The sheriff used it quite effectively to ‘eliminate’ the speeding problem in his county. At least until Martin Sheen rolled into town…

Not only did the Panther steal the Volvo’s grille, it also stole the bush bar from somebody’s pickup truck. Looks a lot like mine, just without the teeth.
The CR-V further down the row had better watch out. The Panther has its eye on the spare tire!
I don’t think that CRV has much to worry about judging by the left rear tire on that Panther…

Digital winter camouflage, sharp-toothed bull bar, Volvo grille … all on a Crown Vic Police Interceptor. There appears to be a lack of a coherent theme, but maybe the owner is channeling the Eurasian lynx (not Mercury Lynx) of Scandinavia.

This reminds me of a beater W126 in my town with it’s original grille replaced with one from an 88-91 Ford LTD Crown Victoria
Ah, the rare LX Arctic Smorgasbord option package. Apparently only eight were built in 1998-99. When Ford bought Volvo in early 1999, the option was dropped as they now could sell REAL Volvos.
Of course one would be in Eugene…

The panther also has what appear to be old volvo turbo wheels
