I was just checking out Google Street View to see where I’m meeting Lily tonight after work. Delighted to find excellent photos of this fine ’62 Comet nicely appointed with custom fender skirts and hubcaps. Darn near the same as the AMT 3-in-1 model kit must have had. In other words, it’s somebody’s full-scale model car. More views after the jump.

Finally this view confirms it’s a ’62. Stylin’ sweet car, don’t you think? Ever climbed into your 2013 Googlemobile and gone on a virtual cruise for CCs?

One cool car Daddio!I’d love to go to a drive in with this and watch Creature from the black lagoon eating a veggie burger and drinking Dr Pepper.This was the first year of the Mercury Comet,previously sold as a Comet after the demise of Edsel.,Those first compact cars were great,all the style of a big Yank but not the size or thirst,let’s see some more please.

The 62 Comet is surprisingly bland. I prefer the 1960-61 with the car’s eye taillights. Get to 62-63, and I prefer the Meteor (though evidently few people agreed with me at that time), Poor Mercury, so foolishly full of hope in 1962.
I’m a Meteor fan JP don’t know why it wasn’t more popular as it was a good looking car and a sensible size.
If Ford Falcon already was one of the ugly ducks of the big oval Company, no doubt Mercury Comet increased the general ugliness of the compact`s line
