We saw a Nissan Stagea station wagon the other day and while it shares the same basic architecture with the famous Nissan Skyline the styling is quite different. Perhaps someone was looking for a more sporting styling out of their straight six powered wagon. Or maybe just something more Skyline looking. The result is this Stagea with R34 Skyline GT-R nose.
This is a 1997 model and the RS 4 badges means it has the same AWD system as the Skyline. This Stagea/Skyline hybrid was seen at a local indoor car show and while it didn’t have any detailed specifications displayed I’d like to think the Skyline’s turbocharged engine also came across with the nose transplant. The Stagea is often known as the Skyline wagon and this particular example is particularly true to the concept.
There is one like that roaming local roads its slightly more obvious being a silver front on a green car last time I saw it but its likely been painted by now, Skylines are a boyracer favourite in NZ they all sprout fat tyres scoops, fins, lowered suspensions etc though a great many tend to be 2L automatics with marginal performance rather than twinturbo RB30s with 4WD and many are just basic 4 doors with fat tyres but very popular cars.
lol. This wagon is trying so hard to look like a 250 km/h BMW. Especially, with that roof mounted wing. But the roof rack somewhat lessens the high speed look.
I find the mismatched angles of the ‘C’ and ‘D’ pillars, awkward. Though it does increase rear load capacity.
This color does suit it.

Much better ! I know it’s all about personal taste, but please don’t screw up a powersedan or -wagon with horrible body-kits, wings or rims. What’s the expression again ? “A wolf in sheep’s clothing”.

The words “body kit” are like the sound of puppies being murdered to my ears, but aside from that and the silly wheels, I think this looks great. I like the regular Stagea as well and I can’t really decide if I prefer it’s front end or this. Wonder what the reverse would look like…
Where else but Canada would you find a lifted 2nd generation Ford Bronco and a Japanese market-only Nissan wagon? The only reason I have any knowledge of these whatsoever is from Gran Turismo. It was one of the coolest cars in the game!!
