Gen1 Accords have suddenly become very scarce. They’re probably hot collector cars these days. And this Accord is red hot, if not quite original. That wing is dramatic, but wait until you see the front end. Got to keep that 1.6 L speed demon earth-bound.
How’s that for a bit of remodeling. Or is it remuddelling?
The painted-over rear windows are a…different touch. No tax breaks for that in the US.
There’s even a second spoiler up on the roof. And a trailer hitch to boot. It’s got all the bases covered.
That’s not how I remember the Accord’s interior. Quite the undertaking. I like the crash pad on the steering wheel; it reminds me of bumper cars.
The hood is fully secured.
It’s always good to see someone fulfilling their creative impulses. But I do hope it’s not the last gen1 Accord I see on the street. I’d like my final memories of them to be a bit more authentic.

That happened around 1996 or so where I live. It is fascinating to contemplate a world where those are still seen, if only rarely.
I remember hearing about expensive engine failures at c. 50,000 miles in the 80’s.
Someone put a lot of money into those modifications. Not my bag, but I hope they are enjoying it.

Only slightly tongue in cheek here, those are probably mandatory dealer installed options at the original purchase. My dad was a very early buyer of a Gen-1 Accord and really loved it (yeah it rusted horribly, but so did everything else in that era); loved so much that he decided to buy a second one for my mom. However by then the demand was so high for them that the dealer loaded up the cars with mandatory options to a crazy level (I seem to recall my dad complaining that they were close to 25 percent of the price of the car, but that is recalling a passing remark some 40 years ago, so take it for what it’s worth). When my dad complained and tried to bargain the dealer told him to buzz off; somebody else would be willing to pay. So… Mom ended up with a Corolla. It only had mandatory mop n’ glow and fog-lights…. Mom loved it but dad said it just was no Honda to drive.
On the other end of the modification spectrum, I saw this last night on the way home- look closely at the trunk lid, just down from the crosswalk signal.
We have one of those on our Lemons racer. I keep meaning to add a tiny LED third brake light to it…
One tiny LED would be great on that.

It is hard to tell in the angle of the photo, but it was a tiny little spoiler. I didn’t see anything that looked like a camera.

I have good memories of my ’79 Accord LX. (1990-1991)
186,000 miles. Bronze. Good AC. The “4 square” wheels. External electric fuel pump was so easy to replace! Didn’t even need a catalytic converter.
Taught my wife (just started dating then) how to drive a stick shift on it. (She was a natural-picked it up quickly and has no interest in cars)
First car I had with a rear wiper. Took a cassette tape in sideways. Had an analog clock. Spring-loaded-hinged-doored change thingy in the doors.
Did a good “Rockford” turn when I literally was being assaulted in the car by a stranger at a dead-end road and had to make a fast escape.
Hmmm. Maybe I should have led with that.
I tend to ramble on with minutia and forget there’s actually interesting stuff in my story here and there.
I hope the hatch lock has been strengthened the large auto opener bolted to it could be entertaining if the engine has been hotted enough for it to have effect, Not the worst set of mods Ive seen at least some thought and effort went into it its not off a shelf attached with self tapping screw job like some of them.
