One of my neighbors has a project car that is slowly trying to expose itself. I have a guess what’s hiding under those old tarps, but I’m sure the Curbside Classic fans out there will have little trouble identifying this one. It never ceases to amaze me how much knowledge you guys have about old cars with just a little clue. Please tell me what you know.

Same here. I had a ’73 like that, just reverse the color and stripe to white with red.
That is not a project car. It’s a “project” car. The way it is being stored tells you everything you need to know. That’s not moving unless it gets towed. Ok..my first vibe was 72 74 cougqr..the front end shape seemed right. on second glance..fastback? So torino 68 69? I have resisted all temptation to look at other pictures and t compare that Fender cut out shape. Read a book a couple years ago about how we can make very accurate snap judgments subconsciously…. If you ask me to describe the Fender cut out of those cars I mentioned I don’t think I could But now I’m wondering. I’m gonna sit back And see what happens
Yep, this is a parked project car and it will never get any work on it by this owner. One day he’ll put it up on Craigslist and advertise it as his project car, he had big dreams for it, plans changed like always, and now it needs someone to finish it off, and the price for my project will be the price of what a finished car would be.
There is an early 70s Beetle convertible next door to me in the extremely cluttered back yard. Probably going on 20-25 years now and the only saving grace is that it is under the patio roof.

I am going with the majority here – a 73-74 Plymouth Roadrunner/GTX.
Judging by the dilapidated shape of the multiple covers, this project hasn’t seen much attention quite some time. There appears to be a perfectly serviceable garage behind it – my guess is that it is hoarded full of junk.
I guess I’m an outlier. I’m leaning towards the Gran Torino
Yep, red version of Daisy Duke’s Satellite.
It’s the shape of the wheel arch, and also the shape and placement of the stripe that make me think it’s a ’73 / ’74 Plymouth B-body coupe (Satellite / Roadrunner).
Another less clear giveaway this is a 73 or 74 Satellite or Roadrunner, is the distinctive shape of the quarter window (and greenhouse in general) and ‘C’ pillar shape, visible through the tarp.
This is a ’74 Satellite Sebring.
At what point do you realize that the tarp isn’t working out as planned and the fragments flapping in the wind are actually more abrasive than the elements?
I had thought it might have been a Torino, but wasn’t sure. Just goes to show what I know.
