You just met Perry as a kid and his family’s Audi 5000 in the previous post, and now here he is today, as CC’s new Managing Editor. I’ve been trying for a while to find the right sucker person who would be able to help me shoulder the load here, given the absurdly low pay, long hours, and having to put up with my relentless anti-Seville jihad.
I became aware of Perry’s consistently excellent comments here a few years back, and encouraged him to contribute. It took a while, but he finally succumbed this fall with this very fine 1966 Chrysler CC. And then he followed that up with a stellar CC on the W201 Mercedes 190. Another CC star was born. And now Perry’s talents will be put to use on an even higher level here.
As is the way with the internet, I don’t know all that much about Perry except that he lives in Bloomington, Indiana with his partner, has a degree in communications/liberal arts/film production, plans to finish his degree in nursing in the future, and is an excellent historian, automotive and otherwise. And of course, is an excellent writer.
Perry will take on the front line responsibility of keeping our content flowing, scheduled properly, and looking good, as well as creating new content. We’re still working out how to best divide responsibilities here and coordinate our efforts, but there’s plenty of work to go around. And I’m only going to get a lot busier with other activities come spring.
Needless to say, I’m very happy to have someone of Perry’s caliber helping out here, and it’s motivating me to try to find some additional advertisers so that I can pay him better and keep him around for a while. And now I’ll have more time to write more anti-Seville posts to get those Page Views up, to make our advertisers happier 😉

The adapters for the 6-71 blower belt drive are turning out to be hard to find too. And I’ve already cut the hole in the hood 🙁

The next Midwest CC Meetup will be in Indiana, in 2014. I’d love to see the museum, and I’d like to see Bloomington too, as I used to hang out there a bit in the early 70s. There was a good Greek restaurant there then. And I loved the woods/park in Brown County, especially in the fall colors. Maybe in October?
October in Brown County is wall to wall people. It’s beautiful, unless you don’t like crowds.
I can always be talked into driving to Bloomington. Great place.
I should have guessed. When I was there in ’72, it was deserted. As was Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is where I headed from Brown County.
Ohhh – CC coming to me – I like this idea. The museums are 2-2.5 hours north of Indianapolis and Brown County is about 1.5 hours south, so there is quite a bit of geography there, but there is surely a way to make it work.
Sounds like an opportunity for a CC Rallye, one lap of Indiana or something like that 🙂
Both Bloomington and Auburn sound great. My sister lived in Bloomington for two years, but I’ve never been there. I’ve been to Auburn three times. Either way, a detour to north of Indy will be in order as there is a dairy there with awesome chocolate milk!
JP and I swapped several emails last fall about meeting at the Stude museum. It didn’t work out (my TC acquisition totally threw a wrench in any plans) but I am thinking an Indiana CC meet would be excellent. Either the Studebaker museum, or Auburn–or both!

Great idea. I’m an IU grad and have visited Bloomington the last two falls. A great friend is an hour away and he also loves cars. We’re discussing visiting the South Bend and Auburn museums this year. It’s been years since I’ve visited either of them.

No, we moved to Granville, OH in 1992; then Columbus in 1997. I prefer Plattsburgh, except for the rust issues.
I can’t tell you how many time I’ve wanted a Granvilla pizza over the years. Last time I was there was in 1999 and was very excited to be able to afford to stay at The Buxton and drink at the bar in The Granville Inn live a grown up!

I don’t comment often, but I do come to this great site each and every day (and have since day one!) and just want to wish Perry good luck and say thanks to ALL the contributors for the great work…Best site on the web!…After the snowmobile stuff came out, I was almost tempted to write up the restoration I did on my ’77 Kawasaki Sno-Jet SST 340 and send it in…maybe one day…

Nice! Just went back and read Perry’s past articles – dude can write. Paul, thanks for maintaining a consistently above par quality of writing from yourself and contributing authors.
