As I’m sure you know, Nash/AMC had a nice little hit with their 1954-61 Metropolitan (CC here). Ford had an opportunity to catch the remaining micro-mini car market, if they had only modified their Falcon chassis with this cut-down Econoline two-seat body.
Of course, it would have a conventional trunk lid in lieu of a useless tiny pickup box. Isn’t it cute? Maybe not as cute as a two-tone Metropolitan, but hey, car styling was getting more serious in the Sixties, anyway…

I should have done a version with the nose but a full-size bed. It could have been the 1961 Ranger!
If you imagine it without wheels or wheelwells, it looks better as a boat… On second thought, so does the Nash.

I’m loving it! To paraphase Jeremy Clarkson, you can’t be a true petrolhead unless you’ve owned a mid-engined pickup.
Another idea would be to have a rear-engined truck with the bed in the front. It’s not a very good idea, but it is an idea.
