Oldsmobile Firenza hatchback!
Now to figure out the connection to Strunk & White…
You got it. Pretty sure only the hatch had that weird flared back portion above the taillights. The coupe, sedan and wagon were all pretty much flat in the back.
Its a Firenza hatchback. The lip was part of an integral spoiler. As best as I can tell, the sheetmetal on all J wagons was identical. On taillights, header panel, and trim bits changed. Firenza and Skyhawk wagons are extremely rare. 2000 wagons are uncommon. Well over 50% of all J wagons built were Cavalier.
Obviously an Oldsmobile. I’ll go with a Cutlass Ciera to maybe steal one, but I think the Firenza is right.

I think it is an Oldsmobile Firenza Wagon
It’s a Firenza hatch, the wagons had the same narrow shape as the Cavalier wagon, just with a Rocket logo.
Yup, Olds, J-Body flavour.
One of the few Oldsmobiles not called a Cutlass back then.
More than likely it’s the ass end of a Mongoose Civique.

Considering the nature of CC the past few days, I’m gonna dare to be different & say it’s a 1974 Saab Sonett III
Given the second half of the famous Sir Walter Scott quote in the title, I think it’s entirely possible that Ed is ‘practicing’ some ‘deceiving’ and may have found the only 70s Saab sports car on the planet with a Firenza tail grafted onto it.
Cadillac STX or whatever the wagon version of the CTS was (is?) called.
The wagon version of the CTS is called, get this…CTS wagon! The SRX is the SUV crossover built off a different platform.
Now Ford has a couple of STX trucks.
