It’s all too obvious that Mr. John van Limpt and his latest 26-wheeler prefer to travel heavy. The whole combination -from front to back- exudes sturdiness, it’s unyielding without being unwieldy.
Fully in control of the situation is a 2024 Scania R660 V8 XT 6×2 tractor with air suspension on all axles. The XT -eXtra Tough- models come with an all-steel upper and lower bumper, among others.
The tractor is legally certified for 66 tonnes (145,500 lbs) gross combination weight. Given its curb weight of almost 10.5 tonnes (23,150 lbs), it’s allowed to tow a semi-trailer with a maximum gross weight of 55.5 tonnes (122,350 lbs).
And that’s where the extendable, 2023 Floor TZD.454.L quad-axle semi-trailer with a Kennis rolloader crane comes in. Worth mentioning is that the driver can remote control the Scania tractor while operating the diesel powered crane.
One liftable axle and three hydraulically controlled counter-steering axles. The Kennis crane is not powered by a V8, by the way.
The short or the long version, the driver/crane operator can have it either way. He has the Floor.
6 wheeler towing a quad semi, that would have a 8 wheel tractor unit here otherwise its a common type of rig,
Quads here are set up with the rear axle steering, it locks straight when reverse gear is engaged and if it doesnt, due to wear they are very difficult to back we had quad walking floor trailers on land fill work pulled by 500hp V8 Scania 8 wheel tractor quite underpowered for the work they bought the wrong engines and the manual transmissions got destroyed by road ranger drivers, they were ok to drive just dont point them up hill.
