This is a riot, but I am not interested. Thanks for the laughs this morning. Wait, maybe I should buy it. I can ride around, at my age, in front of seniors’ centers and pick up old ladies. We can go to Burger King for an afternoon.
It’s always a bit unexpected when a Ferrari owner opts for a color other than red, but a Batmobile in mint green easily tops that for least obvious choice of color.
This is sure to be a hit at every St. Patrick’s Day parade. Or as a great promo when McDonalds occasionally brings back the Shamrock Shake. Because it’s in mint condition, of course.
Bad jokes aside, this is one car color that I would be very tempted to pass on no matter how attractive a car’s price or condition might be. All I can think of is the tuxedo I had to wear for my cousin’s wedding in the mid 70s.
I would have figured a Corvette chassis would be too narrow for a proper Batmobile, but apparently not – unless this car is narrowed a bit too. There was a company in Indiana that was making really faithful Batmobile replicas, but it put them on FoMoCo Panther chassis (I can’t recall which wheelbase – I think it was the Town Car’s). But I think they have been out of business for quite awhile now.

The square-o-matic Corvette interior really is the crowning touch. What a stupendous monument to bad taste. I love it but at $85k I’ll pass.

All that aside, I am from the Batman TV show generation and I like it, color and all. It’s got zap.
It looks like a scale model that someone has done some fancy forced perspective camera work on to make it look full-sized. Not very well-detailed at all, and not worth that kind of money!
I agree. It’s the silver instead of chrome that does it in.
I like this. Not for $85 large, but I like it. There are worse things to base a custom off of than a C4. A few of the minor exterior details are wonky, and mint green wouldn’t be my first choice of color, but that shade is very ’66 circa the Batman TV series.
I’ve got it! It’s what Batman would have driven in 1966 if he’d joined the National Park Service instead of doing the caped crusader thing fighting supervillains.

Why would you take a perfectly fine fuel-injected engine and convert it to a carburetor?”
This makes no sense to me. Seems backwards, technology-wise. It would be like converting you disc brake car back to one with drum brakes.

Forget the questionable wheelbase stretch (where did you get an additional THREE feet to add to a C4 aluminum backbone chassis?)…

I would love to see someone do an accurate replica of the Lincoln Futura (one of my three favorite show cars from my childhood, the other two being the Pontiac Club de Mer and the Chevrolet Biscayne), but this definitely is not it. The exaggerated angles just kill the car for me.

I believe the folks from the TV Show Car Masters – Rust to Riches, did just that, going so far as to getting one of the two fiberglass replicas made from the original mold, and adding an authentic 50’s sound mike on the rear deck. It was built in their shop, called ironically enough, Gotham Garage.

Rear view camera, media center with fold out touch screen, av input, bluetooth (…digital dashboard, childish pretense at LED lights, etc…) and yet converted to carburetor: that spells h-a-l-f-a-s-s-e-d to me.
Exactly, but electric fuel pump though lol. I was under the impression that the TPI L98 was a pretty good unit. I do have a somewhat personal bias against carburetors. They just strike me (especially when trying to achieve emissions compliance) as a rube-Goldberg solution, and not a very good one at that.
Where is the fake jet tail cone?

For 85 big ones, it has to have the flames shooting out the back. Also the capacity to make barricades it encounters flip down for it to pass.
The rear is where they really dropped the ball. I can understand no fake jet tail cone since it’s a Futura replica, and not a Batmobile. But, man, did they screw up the bumper angle. I don’t think any Futura/Batmobile ever had that acute of an angle in the rear bumper. The other place that doesn’t fit is that blocky wart of a scoop on the hood. I don’t think it was necessary for any kind of air cleaner clearance so it’s just plain stupid, particularly since they didn’t open it up to at least make it ‘look’ halfway functional.
It’s too bad because the place where the C4 Corvette really works is the digital instrument cluster. It fits in perfectly with the whole futuristic ethos of the car. And at least they stuck with a stock C4 steering wheel, too, instead of a craptacular Grant aftermarket POS.
A real shame because, if not for these small details, it’s actually a pretty faithful Futura replica, something rarely seen.

That was the first model car I ever built when I was in 3rd grade. Well, not this one, but the real Futura and it was molded in a similar color.
Also, I am here to confess that I like that color. It looks to me to be very similar to 1981 Cadillac Princess Green. How do I know this? Because I used to own a ’35 Plymouth in that color. We bought the car as a work in progress and it was already painted. However, the paint job was not done properly so we had it resprayed in the same color in basecoat, clear coat. It looked gray at night and in bright sunshine washed out to almost white. We finished the project and drove it for several years before selling it. The current owner must agree with you guys because he is currently painting it red.
OK, there is my confession. By the way, my wife says no more pastel cars!
I was going to grumble about the off-brand RWL tires, but then I zoomed in. They’re Futura tires. Can’t say this guy doesn’t have a sense of humor.
Well I guess the climate change movement has made even Batman go green… I’ll see myself out…
the vents on each side of the rear plate are the same vents as in the cabinet kickplate in my kitchen.

Seems everyone here doesn’t like my Futura. But that’s ok because everyone is entitled to their own option. Let’s see what some of you have built from scratch. No kits are available, scratch built. Just wanted to make something different. Like it or don’t makes no difference to me.
I liked it–I thought it was truly striking and neat. That’s why I posted it.

I hope it does make a difference that some of us do like it Jim 🙂 I doubt I could build anything from scratch, and I have immense respect for anyone like you who has the ability and skill to build things, let alone something functional, drivable and finished at such a high level. Nicely done.

I dont care what anyone says that car is AWESOME, obviously people don’t know wtheir lookin at, I like the color, I would love to have that Car , its Friggin AWESOME !!! GREAT JOB !!!
