Anyone besides me try clicking the Pause button in that lead photo a few dozen times in an attempt to get it to show the video?
Just me then? Ok…
Looks like a new Spitfire MKIV in the 3rd pic in the lower level of the parking garage, and lots of nice early Japanese stuff (1st gen Prelude, some Celicas) in the subsequent pics.
Thanks for those great photos. I’ve long wanted to find one of The Castle on Superior. I remember it as standing stately amid businesses. I’ve often wondered if it’s still there. AND North Wells! I spent a lot of time in that area, including visits to THAT book store and adjacent clubs! 😉
Rich, Thanks for these photos; I only wish that there were more.
That Walgreens at N. Wells & North Ave. looks the *exact same* on the outside, forty-five years later. Incredible. Great pics!
The yellow “Camaro” on “Welle’s St??”.; it’s a beauty.
Very first pic has that “rare, Impala” sport roof. Seen few of those.
I`m surprised there are no shots on those great old Chicago movie palace theaters like the ‘Oriental’-before it became the ‘Nederlander’, ‘The Chicago’, the ‘Uptown’, and those now defunct Balaban and Katz theaters.
Thanks for posting these pictures. The second to last photo (Orleans St) shows a Renault Alliance (Renault 9) in the background and of course, the T2b Volkswagen Bus in the slow lane, holding up traffic.
That lede photo caught my eye, as front and [nearly] center is a 1979 Fairmont Futura.
I had one like that, only in Ford’s Midnight Blue color with matching vinyl top split by the basket handle.
I can’t recall ever seeing one in that color (or lack thereof) combination back in the day. I even had the same wheel covers and “Exterior Accent Group” as that car, which featured better side moldings and chrome (well, brushed aluminum) arches above the wheels.
That blue ‘71 Chevy in the picture speaks to me as well. It’s in fine shape for a 9 year old car at the time….
Great contrast in the third photo.
