Here’s the location of Jack Nolen’s Court in Orangeburg – it’s seen better days. The restaurant operated there from the early 1950s through the mid ’70s (Jack Nolen passed away in 1974):

Post House Cafeteria looks alot like the old Bob Peck Chevrolet dealership in Arlington, VA. A newly-constructed office building is now at that location but they reused the distinctive diamond-pattern design for the new building.
I miss this kind of restaurant. Now just about everything is corporate chain fast food or corporate chain casual with a zillion TVs tuned to sports channels.
2nd Picture the 47 Chevy’s hood is ajar, maybe got some indegestion and couldn’t make it out the driveway or got pushed off to the side out of the way.

That pic , in general, is “depressing”.
The Oklahoma “Glass House” reminded me of those highway-spanning dining stops around Chicago–I had to look twice. Wiki tells me it’s been re-named and renovated, and that McDonalds now has Subway as a companion, but it’s still much the same: https://www.travelok.com/listings/view.profile/id.22615
A little Arabian Nights theme…right in Montréal . Yes, on the ground it’s snow remains, not desert sand
and no, no poutine tagine on the menu.
I have mentioned before, my favorite postings on Curbside are the vintage Postcards. Viewing these posts always bring back good memories of my childhood in the 1950s-early 1960s. Growing up in an Air Force family, we moved frequently, coast to coast, so I have many childhood road memories. Hotels, motels, diners, tourist traps, and I think I swam in motel swimming pools from Maine to California. Eating cheeseburger’s with strawberry milkshakes to lobsters and steaks.
Thanks for the Vintage Postcard posts.
I too love all these memory inducing pictures .
I still like diners if they have decent food, many didn’t and so failed .
Always look for city or contractor trucks lined up, you’ll know the grub is good .

Everything doesn’t still have to look like this. But some things should!
