Every once in a while, somebody finds a car that prompts a debate during the preparation of the article. This is certainly one of those. With this particular Curbside Classic, there could be fireworks. Or, we might all open a bottle of whiskey and celebrate a profound success. Some things are hard to predict, but who can predict this car?

The A/C vents are identical to my first car, a ’71 Galaxie 500, in that shade of lime green that PN loves (NOT!!) I think the hood & dash contours are right, and would probably be different on a Merc or Linc.
Well, just saw Clue # 1, so I’m confused. That’s definitely not a ’71 Ford bumper.

I’m gonna go contrary here, I smell low end Custom or Custom 500, and my 6th sense tells me it’s a police package. Especially with the oblique reference to whiskey, right Burt?
Agreed … LTD … compare those plastic a/c louvers (famous for staining of the chrome accents, and the deformation of the surrounding bezel, such that they often jammed or were able to be rotated backwards) against those in the ’69/’70 LTD (die-cast)… and see the cheapening of the vehicle … same could be said for the grille and the headlamp surrounds…
I think the cheapening was a side benefit of meeting safety standards-die castings hurt when your head hits them. Also, in the ’69 they were positioned much lower, here they are directly in the path of juniors noggin in a crash.
I dunno. But I like it anyway.
That looks so wrong, and yet de ja poo looks vaguely like the view out of the Aussie stacked light Fairlane so Galaxie or similar.

My brother had one of those: The white one with the RW&B pinstriping.
Looking at that graceful bonnet shape, it’s just gotta be a Rolls Silver Shadow with the super-rare wood-delete dashboard option; and the superer-rarer silver-sheila-on-the-grille-delete option! Or failing that, the afore-mentioned 71/72 Ford.
