There’s little doubt in my mind that more Cadillacs have given up their lives for art than any other make. Except perhaps the VW Beetle, of course. I’m not sure where this latest victim was found; the setting looks sort of European, but then not a lot of these vintage Caddys were sold over there. Not terribly original, but there’s something about it…
Shame you don’t have a shot of the interior. Cadillacs are the expression of Americana ( to people outside America)because Elvis had one. If he had driven an Edsel the world might be a different place.
I saw the pic and went, ‘oh one of those new ones, no biggie’. If it was an older model, I’d be upset to see it trashed.
At least it’s not a Fleetwood.
It makes sense that Cadillacs are the art car of choice because they are iconic and polarizing. There are very few cars as recognizable and with as many cultural subtexts.
I wonder if they used the whole car or if they just cut it in half?
It reminds me of a public art project that was done in parking lot in the 70’s where the cars were semi-buried and paved over, I cant find any info on it now.
Yeah something doesn’t look quite right there on the fenders and doors if it’s “buried.”
I just saw my first CTS Coupe today in a pearl white. Beautiful car…
Now if it is truely burried… then that is a GREAT metaphor for how this country feels right now. If it is simply cut in half then… meh, try harder next time.

Plus, this was my favorite of the front-drive deVilles, sleek but still had a lot of the classic Cadillac styling cues.
If it had the Northstar, I’m not too bothered. If it was one of the last of the 4.9s, it’s a shame. It does look like someone went to town with a Sawzall. This was one of the last Sedan de Villes with the classic styling cues. The new CTS coupe and wagon are pretty cool, but they just don’t scream ‘Cadillac’ like one of these.
They should have used a Camry. It could have been called ‘sinking into anonymity’.
I thought usually it’s this type of car’s owners that often end up encased in cement.
I had one just like that. It was a 1995. The headlights had the dame poor fit that the one in the picture has. Loved it!
I just noticed, we were wondering if it had the Northstar or not, it has the weath and crest in the grille, which, at least originally indicates that it was a DeVille Concours, not just a regular DeVille, which would have still had the stand up hood ornament, so at least from what I can tell, this was a Northstar Cadillac, since all the DeVille Concours had the Northstar.
