I was just going to totally keep my distance from the 1997 Camaro CC, but got sucked in due to some issues with its supposed Cadillac-sized length. And I ended up describing my harrowing experience having one as a rental on a business trip once for several days. I have never loathed a car more. And it left me with PCRS (Post Camaro Rental Syndrome), which is threatening to flare up into a Deadly Sin. But thanks to Hugo90, I have calmed myself by gazing at this lovely 1962 Cadillac convertible. Ahh; that’s better. Carry on without me; I’m staying over here.

There is one of these for sale (white with black top) parked on the street outside my workplace every day, for a few weeks now–it moves periodically so I know it runs. It’s as if it’s intended for me to take home. In very good apparent shape, although who knows what lurks under the hood (and under every other surface) of a 50-year-old car.

Well, the old car gods don’t need to explain my purchase to my wife. 😉
Although, she muses now and then about how nice it would be to have a convertible to bomb around in on the weekends.
We took the Miata top-down to the coast this weekend, and Lily drove coming home. She’s still grinning about it. “I just love this car!”
It is damned nice to have a convertible, any convertible, to bomb around in. A Cadillac convertible like this, extra special.
The Cadillac 390 V8 is a fabulous engine, and the old 4 speed Jetaway HydraMatic is an exceedingly durable transmission. Universal joints are expensive because there are 3 of them, and two of them (IIRC) are CV joints. Go for it!
I think the 1962 is the most elegant Cadillac since the V-16 roadster days. A fantastic car. I don’t think I could pass up buying if I saw one in somebody’s front yard. If it was in equivalent or better condition to the powder blue Buick CC ( $2,200), I’d foolishly buy it in an instant. I hope I never see one for sale.
Last week on Ebay, someone had a 64 Coupe Deville with 30K miles in pristine original condition for $ 23,000 buy it now. The many pictures showed this car to be in unbelievable condition. A convertible would probably price in the stratosphere.
I’ve felt the same way about cars, like it’s intended for me.

These cars (early sixties Cadillac) will always remind of the movie “Tin Men” (1987 – Danny DeVito/Richard Dreyfuss).

this cars twin is parked downstairs in my buildings garage. it has about an inch of dust on it. one of these days, i’ll go down there with my camera and a flash and try to get a decent picture of it… new york is a funny place when it comes to cars. who would pay several hundred dollars a month to store an old caddy?

Who wouldn’t pay to store a classic Cad assuming it isn’t trashed beyond saving? Though if the paint is in reasonable shape why not spend a few bucks on a high quality cover to keep the dust off?
A neighbor has a 19701/2 Z-28 Camaro (2nd gen) that is in great shape and has a reserved place in his carport. I might knock on his door tomorrow and ask to take some pics so I can write a CC on it. Will that relieve your PCRS?
