The Technicolor F100, posted by Tim Finn. Which means it was found in Portland, not surprisingly. The title refers to the purple painted ’57 F100 that was posted here last spring. At first I thought it had been painted in various shades, but it appears that it was once all red, and that the yellow hue is actually lichen, or some kind of primitive life form trying to establish a new ecosystem on it.
But I could be wrong.
In this shot, Tim juiced the colors digitally, which really makes it look multi-hued.
It’s still got one wiper, so it’s good to go. And I suspect most drivers will show their respect and keep a safe distance.
It couldn’t be more beautiful.
These pictures bring out the remarkably small air openings for the radiator on ’50s Ford trucks. Ford had confidence in their radiators, and the confidence was well placed. Those trucks rarely overheated.
Looks like the lichen is closing down the airflow even more, but the hood is opening to compensate.
Nice looking truck, but you’d want to make sure your shots are up to date before touching it.
What a survivor.
This looks like what every psycho would drive in seventies horror movies. All it needs are a few disturbing “bumper stickers” created with stick on letters to complete the package.
A reminder that in the WIllamette Valley moss is a bigger problem than rust. Our daily driver Ford Escort developed a thriving ecosystem in its roof gutters.
In Bend the worst I get is a seasonal coating of pollen.
I like its “Harlequin” paint job. It looks like a survivor from Three Mile Island. On a more serious note, it is clearly a truck that has been very useful over the years. Respect.
I had two different 959 Ford F100’s, basically the same truck apart from the grille .
Very stout .
Even when totally rusted out these truck’s doors opened and closed perfectly .

I drive by this cool old truck frequently. I hope it hangs around for another generation or two.
I was pretty sure the new Ranger would be called the F-100.
I love it; my fave year of the F-100 and, I dig its character.
