The concept is good. The execution is horrendous. For starters, I don’t know who decided that matte paint jobs were ‘cool’ but they were wrong. They make a car look like an unfinished project. Which this apparently is. I would be embarrassed to drive this on the street without a full complement of taillights. They can’t be that hard to find. The visor is poorly integrated and possibly too large. The paint line on the c-pillar could be much better. Have they not heard of masking tape? There’s something weird going on around the hubcaps – white lines. Are these recaps or painted over wide-whites?
It’s a great starter piece but I would keep it hidden until it’s ready for prime time.
Same sticker as the one in Cheech & Chong’s up in smoke!
I don’t particularly care for chopped tops but the effect really does give it the longer lower wider appearance that was desired by customized back then, without a frame of reference I thought it was a big Monterey at first glance, not the comparitively diminutive Comet!
Good Luck to the dude for thinking that this vehicle will attract women! Until now I have never had bad odor come through my computer monitor. Thanks for the laugh. If you have his address, I can send him a gift card to a charm school.
Someone likes metalwork.
Not only the chopped top, but using a sedan roof on a hardtop – or did he convert a sedan to a hardtop? And check out the rear end: that’s some neat work where he removed the bumper.
Not a fan of the black primer and white roof though.
Looks like a 61 comet with a better looking 60 Comet grill, the white on the rim / tires looks like it had white Porta Walls that were torn off. Definitely a hot rod, duel pipes and 5 bolt lug nuts on rear axle, original Comets only had 4 nuts per wheel.
Found it on reddit in 2018. It was the daily driver of a mechanic named diverdave76, who said the body mods had already been done when he bought it – and that it also shot flames from the exhaust. He said it had a 170ci six, and he’d added a 5-speed manual transmission, ‘Davis Unified Ignition’, and a leaned-out single-barrel carb, all of which resulted in 40mpg on the highway. He called it an Econorod. No bump stops and it bottomed-out everywhere and had a horrible ride he said. Personally I think it looks great – no idea what’s been done to the roofline but it works!
Lots of potential

Maybe more “Love Shack?”
Yeah. That’s bada___, for sure. I like it.
Stay away from my sister, though.

Same here — thought it was a big Mercury at first, not a Comet.
Holy crap, I thought my 63 was cool…!!!😁
Yours is. This one, mmm, depends what you’re into, I guess.
It was.

It’s a Merc. Maybe about a ‘60?

It’s definitely extended somehow, a Falcon/Comet hardtop rear pillars are much thinner. The sedan’s too, for that matter.
I’ll just leave this here, LOL!!!:

Thank you Moparman… I came here to quote that song!
You beat me too it! LOL.
No need for a “Do Not Touch” sign
The stance is wrong. Either the front is too low or the rear is too high. This is a cruiser not a hot rod.

Nothing wrong with this, I’d not have for free but someone who clearly has talent is making their dream come true .
I like how the flat black bumper hides it without making it so a minor bump scraps the whole car .
I wonder how it drives ? .
In matters of taste, everyone else is _WRONG_ .
