There I was, waiting for an old friend of mine in the corner of 24th and Mission in San Francisco, just by the BART station, when this white Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV appeared, driving slowly toward the traffic light. In enough of a slow motion to get my cell phone’s camera ready and snap a couple of photos.
The Alfa driver had a somewhat disapproving look as I took a few snaps. Not sure what his face was showing… Whether he didn’t appreciate the attention the car was getting (look, man, it’s an Alfa, no way to avoid it!), or was he out on some date he wanted no record of? Hard to tell. But no matter the reasons behind his displeasure, there was certainly seduction at play — at the very least, between the car and me.
There are few things in life like Alfa Romeo seduction. And don’t be misled by this one’s modest white. It ain’t the typical red Italian body, but there’s no way, if you’ve a smidgen of Alfista in you, to not feel lust of some kind when seeing one nearby. Chaste color or not. And yes, that color made for great contrast against the colorful buildings surrounding 24th St. Pure seduction, of many sorts, driving away.

Pretty sure that guy lives in the area (Mission District, San Francisco). I’ve seen that car around there before.
I wish I had it, that’s for sure .
I only ever see the rag tops .

Great style.
My favorite, though, was the GTV 6 from the ’80s.
Don’t normally go for white cars, but I’m willing to make an exception for this…..
Believe it or not, Alfa also made a rag top version of the coupe. I lived in Livorno in the early 80s and had the pleasure of seeing it up close…
At the time I owned a 2000 Spyder and later a 1750 GTV…
One of my all time favorites. I love the 4 headlamp setup with the larger outside units. A friend got one of these when they were new, but I found I was a bit too tall for it. I ended up with a used Berlina, which was great, if not quite as pretty.
The four-lamp front end is a rare example of a styling refresh that really helps. The earlier Sprint/GTV has a lovely profile, but I always felt the front end seemed unresolved. With the new grille and headlights, it all really comes together.
I’m not really a big Alfa fan, but this one I’d put into my garage without hesitation. A big plus: the lack of a cheesy red paint job.
She’s a beauty, Rich and wears white paint well. Thanks for the post.
It isnt resale red so nice find
