And once again we’re visiting the open house and 35th anniversary festivities of the Schoones transport company and heavy haulage specialist, held in September last year. In this episode, a Volvo-Nooteboom combination, carrying a white Liebherr product you will never find in anyone’s kitchen or pantry (unless something went horribly wrong).
As per usual, a Swedish ‘I roll’ powerhouse is fully in control of the whole operation. The 2024 Volvo FH16-750 dedicated heavy haulage tractor comes with an 8×4/4 drivetrain, so with a steering pusher axle. Its registered curb weight is 13 tonnes (28,660 lbs).
The Volvo tows a Nooteboom 2-bed-4 low loader, that is from front to back: gooseneck, tandem axle interdolly, in this case a narrow bed, and a quad-axle rear unit. Hydraulic suspension and steering all around, the works (yet the norm in this line of business these days).
There, the world’s largest dozer with a hydrostatic transmission. It’s powered by an in-house V12 turbodiesel with a displacement of 24.2 liter and a maximum power output of 768 DIN-hp, known as the Liebherr D9512 engine.
The globally operating Liebherr family business is headquartered in Switzerland, the German-Swiss company was founded in 1949 by Hans Liebherr (1915-1993). Last year’s sales revenues were 14.8 billion Euro, with 56,000 employees worldwide.
According to a document attached to the dozer’s grille, the transport weight of this Liebherr -so without a blade- was 61 tonnes (134,500 lbs). Fully equipped, the Liebherr 776 operates in the 70 tonnes (154,300 lbs) class of bulldozers/crawler tractors.
It’s time to relax with some Slow TV from Austria. A gentleman shows us how the tracks are installed on a Liebherr PR 776. Come to think of it, calling the Liebherr employee a ‘lieber Herr’ sounds much more natural.
But that’s not all, the Schoones Volvo-Nooteboom combination from today’s episode is also featured in the video, literally picking up the new PR 776 dozer at the factory in Austria to haul it to the Netherlands. Evidently, a safe trip it was!

I’ve never seen a white Liebherr unit of any kind. IN the US they tend to be that generic safety yellow color.
Yes, or in a combination of yellow and white, see below. If you do an image search for their articulated dump trucks, they show up with a yellow dump body and a white cab plus hood.
Liebherr? It could as easily be called the Dear God, or perhaps, the God Almighty. What a big bastard of a bulldozer that is.
As usual, I learn a new thing. I hadn’t a clue that Liebherr is so big a company. On the figures you’ve given, it’s got about 10,000 more employees than Mazda! Who knew? (Well, me now, I guess). Good video too (hyper music track aside).
