Vintage Photos Wanted

Regular CC readers know that in the last few years, vintage photos have become a regular CC staple. Today, I have a special request, and would like to encourage readers, contributors, and authors to share those visual memories with us. As a place to exchange car interests, automotive history, and personal experiences, vintage images at CC have done wonders in reawakening distant recollections and emotions. It’s been a rewarding process, and we like to remind you all that it’s open to those who feel they have something to share.

If you’re a reader and wish to be part of the experience, you can mail those images to [email protected] (preferably at the highest resolution possible, ideally at least 1200 pixels wide). If you’re an author or contributor, you can send them our way too, or better yet, put them up with your own storytelling. Several have done so, and as with COALs, they’ve found it a very rewarding experience.

I’ve truly enjoyed putting these vintage image collections together, not because they present a perfect version of history, but because they reveal the ordinary moments that usually fade away: family cars in driveways, road trips, gas stations, first cars, and forgotten daily drivers. Some of the most memorable images we have shared came directly from readers, contributors and authors, and have done much to expand the collective memory at CC.

So, if you got some and have some incline to share them, don’t overthink it. After all, the cars people actually lived with—and the memories attached to them—are often the stories most worth preserving.
