The time has come once again to wish you all Happy Holidays and a great New Year. As is our custom, CC will take a break from its regular posting (except for our COAL series) and we’ll feature CC’s Best Of 2024 from Christmas Eve to New Year’s. A chance to revisit the pieces you enjoyed, or to catch up with notable ones you may have missed.
We thank you for another successful year at CC. Yes, we increased viewership this 2024, something we couldn’t have done without you.
See you in 2025!
(About the vintage image, it’s at the Ala Moana Mall in Hawaii).
MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYBODY!
Happy Holidays to all and sundry, especially Rich and Paul for piloting the the mighty CC through another year. Keep up the good work and see you in 2025.
Greetings of the season.
Thanks for everyone’s efforts to keep Curbside Classic going, especially the citizens of Eugene, OR. Merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas and happy new Year. Took Santa’s sleigh out for a ride last week. Now back under cover…
Merry Christmas everyone!.
The Ala Moana Center in Honolulu. This was likely it’s first Christmas season as it opened in 1959. With 87 stores and 4,000 parking places it became the largest mall in the U.S. when it opened. It is still considered the largest open air mall. All per Wikipedia. I grew up in Alaska so it is not like any Christmas I remember, at least until I spent one in Hawaii in 1973.
Beginning in the left lower corner we have a white over light green ’55 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door sedan, a first year white over light blue ’51 Ford Victoria 2 door hardtop with Fordomatic Drive, dark over light green Rambler facing the camera that is hard to date as they looked the very similar from ’53-’55 and again from ’58-’60, black ’50 Ford further back with a sun visor, center mounted fog lamp and red Hawaii plates used from ’57-60, white ’57 Chevrolet One-Fifty 2 door sedan, white ’53 Mercury Monterey Special Custom Coupe, the white car facing to the right could be a ’53 or ’54 Dodge, and the green one is a ’56 Mercury Custom 4 door Phaeton, the first year for the 4 door hardtop. Even further back under the ‘Sears’ sign is a dark green ’51 or ’52 Chevrolet Styleline, to it’s left a ’54 Chevrolet Bel Air, and two cars to the right facing this way is a white over gold ’59 or ’60 Chevrolet wagon.
Thanks for the photo and to all have a Merry Christmas!
