I love this story, but have mixed feelings about how it ended. Yes she loved her Corvair. To Death. And she kept it up all the way to the end. I can’t help but feel a perfectly good Corvair went into the ground with her.

Seriously, you have to wonder about someone who would ruin a perfectly nice old car and prevent anyone else from ever enjoying it. Sad.
Man if I’ve got a car I love and I know I’m dying or getting near the end, I’m gonna do my dangest to find someone who will appreciate it to pass it on to.
@jp: The humor in that statement was not intentional. 🙂 Joking about whether there are ANY good Corvairs aside….
I would also feel much better knowing that my car will be left with a “caretaker” who will appreciate it. The idea that, if you bury your things you’ll get them in the afterlife, seems outdated…. unless you’re Mr.Burns.

Not a pleasant resting place for the old gal, either. As we learned from Oklahoma’s Buried Car…that Corvair is going to fill with water and be very, very unpleasant to behold.
That beautiful casket will be swimming around in murk; finally leaking and sinking and adding to the rot and corruption.

If you really loved the car, why do this to it? I just don’t understand it. It could have been left to a friend or relative who could have enjoyed it.
