Today, we’ll pay a visit to Lincoln Mercury dealers as they were in the 1960s and 1970s. We’ll start with the most Lincoln-esque of all the dealers shown today, Harvey M. Stewart in Syracuse, NY – with a glassy display of its goods for all to see. Mid-Century modernity that seemed to embody the austere upscale feel of the 1960s Continental ethos.
Kossman-Vickery, Lincoln-Mercury-Rambler, Greensville, MS.
Bob Sight, Lincoln-Mercury, Continental-Comet, Overland Park, KS.

Wyatt Lincoln-Mercury, Cleveland, OH.
Bob Dusseau Lincoln-Mercury, Farmington, MI.
Rush Motors Lincoln-Mercury, Columbus, OH.
Art Hill Lincoln-Mercury, Merryville, IN.
Spaulding, Ford-Mercury-Lincoln, Aberdeen, SD.
Sam Johnson Lincoln-Mercury, Charlotte, NC.
North Florida, Lincoln-Mercury, Jacksonville, FL.
Horace Noble, Lincoln-Mercury, Chicago, IL.

I will take any of the 2 door Comets please! And I don’t ever remember seeing a stand alone Capri sign.
Lotta real estate there .
Some gold in the used car lots too .

That row of Versailles in their own world, far away from the “Lincoln” Lincolns. And all the Lincons with the concealed headlamps covers stuck in the open position while still new!
In an age of “auto-malls” that include a dozen dealerships, set far off the road, occupying 25 acres or more ….
….. even the most ostentatious of these, seems quaint.
A fair number of Comets and Cougars scattered about.
However, I only see one Carpi and it’s in the showroom of the top photo.
I guess it wasn’t as popular as I imagined.

I like to think that they were so popular that they couldn’t keep one on the lot !
Looks like a new 68 Cougar by the entry at Bob Sight LM in Kansas.
Can we do a post on the original Lexus, Acura and Infiniti dealerships?? Thats now 35-40 years ago and most have been remodeled.
I can still remember as a kid seeing that pearl white 1995 Lexus SC400 sitting in the showroom behind those smoked plate glass windows. The lighting had it lit up just so it absolutely glowed in the dusk/night. Made a permanent impression on my brain to where I bought a pearl white SC300 about 15 years later
At the sign of the Cat,,
Give me that Marauder X-100 at Rush Motors!! 🙂
