That really sucks.
It almost looks like one of those ads with the Chevys on the rocks in the ocean.
The whole coastal beach of Oregon (with some limited exceptions) is technically a public right of way (road/highway). It was made that in order to protect it from individuals buying sections of the beach. So it’s all public, and people do drive on sections of still, where access is easy, like here in Port Orford.
But even with 4WD, some folks still manage to get stuck, sometimes with bad consequences if the tide is coming in quickly.
Port Orford??? You mean THE Port Orford??? I guess I am the ONLY one that does NOT know WHERE that is, so you don’t have to expend that NANO-SECOND to type the STATE it is in?!?
I assume you’re making an attempt to be sarcastic. If not, here’s a hint: reread that paragraph, which is all about the beaches in Oregon.

Context clues Nicky my boy. Reread the statement
When you google “Port Orford,” the first thing that comes up is Port Orford, OR. There may be others, but given that and the fact that Paul specifically mentioned coastal Oregon, I’d say that it’s pretty clear. Maybe read a little closer next time and try not to be a jackass.
Notice there’s nothing more from Mr Kennedy? Guess he finally figured out where Port Orford was and how ridiculous his sarcastic statement was after he, possibly, reread the original post.
Ever see the reels where a guy asks 2nd grade questions to young adults and they can’t figure out the answers? Like what country is the Queen of England from, and they say, “Canada”? Yeah, that’s this guy.
“Now what?”
…I guess making a valiant effort to get it unstuck.
That’s not going to end well.
Jacl Nicholsom’s ’85 Corvette when he played an astronaut?
The angle of the car on its suspension suggests that the right rear wheel buried itself a few inches into the sand and the thing was good and stuck. I’ll bet the owner was wishing he had chosen a VW right about now. 🙂
I’ll call my dad for the money to pay for the tow truck.
Well, in those pre-cell-phone days, one of those kids had better right quick start hauling butt down the beach to the nearest payphone (and hope he has a dime). 🙂
Alternative caption – the guy on the right is the model who was hired for ‘the ad’, and the people on the left are staff from the ad agency saying ‘What the f*** do we do now?’ 🙂
I guess someone’s vacation day started out something like this, but then they they got just a bit carried away.
Someone on Daytona Beach who forgot what time the tide came in?
That’s a rather attractive, convertible too.. Sad.
“You idiot! I said the car was BULLETPROOF, not WATERPROOF!”
If the tide is going out, they have time to get a tow. If it’s coming it, the car is probably a goner.
in the Valiant photo the guy standing on the right has two heads, but only one in his reflection
Excellent pick up. So is it real or is it Memorex? I know which way I am leaning.
Looks like another Darwin Award Winner drives that poor Valiant.
It’s moments like this when you realize just how fast the tide comes in.
And one week later, the car had dissolved into a pile of rust flakes.
🎶 The tide is high but I’m holding on 🎶
Yikes!, that doesn’t look good at all. Here on Vancouver Island nowadays, driving on the beach is illegal and would likely lead to an unpleasant encounter with the locals as well.
I’d hate to see what that nice little Valiant looked like the day after….
I don’t even walk my dog on the beach without checking the tide chart first!
This brings back some childhood memories of digging for razor clams on the Washington coast. I never saw a car swallowed up by the ocean and surrendered to Poseidon, but there were plenty of close calls, sometimes requiring the assistance of a good samaritan with a winch on the front of his Jeep.
I can hear it now, “Dad you won’t believe what happened today”.
I can almost hear it rusting from being immersed in salt water.
My Holden Gemina panel van made quite a few beach trips in the 1980s. Queensland’s Frazer Island and Double Island point.
No good in the soft sand near the dunes, but at low tide on the packed stuff. Could easily sit on 100 Ks.
And while my mates were tenting it, I could enjoy a thick foam mattress, warm and dry with The Doors, Moody Blues or Beatles on the 4 speaker Pioneer stereo.
I could never understand why anyone would drive close to the waster’s edge much less those movie and advertisement shots of folks zooming through the surf……..
