CC Clues usually consist of an extreme closeup of a feature, but this time I’m giving you the whole vehicle, which I found at the sandblaster I’ve been using for my two vintage VW projects. To keep this fun, make your guess in the comments – without searching or referencing your “Cars of the World” book – and I’ll post the answer later today.
I’m not that familiar with this genre/timeframe, and it took me a while to figure this one out – couldn’t have done it without this view, either. Let’s see how you do!

Looks like it is a convertible sedan from the 1930’s. Even though I have looked at the CC-cohort, I can’t guess what it is.

Yep, definitely a convertible sedan, which places it at ’40 or earlier (I think.) I’m going to take a wild guess and say ’37 Pontiac (based on the fact that it looks like there was a wide trim piece on the trunk lid there). Of course I don’t know this era very well either and that feature may have not shown up on Pontiacs ’til the 40’s for all I know.
I think this is a pretty good guess.
+1. Rare bird for sure, though. Convertible sedans were on their last years by the time this one was made. Might even be a phaeton (no roll up windows) which would be even rarer.

Yes, it has that GM look to it, doesn’t it? Just to be different, I’ll say it’s a 1936 La Salle convertible sedan.
I can’t tell what the car was without the front end or the badging. But it looks like a potential for a restomod.
Definately GM, and must be an upscale brand with that stretched cowl so I’m going with 1940 LaSalle.

I *wish* I was taking the body shells there, but alas, they’ve sat out in the machine shed again all winter… The pans look great, tho!
Its a 1937 or 1938 Pontiac B-body convertible sedan either a six or eight cylinder. The Six has a 117″ wb, the eight 122″ wb. These two model years were the only time Pontiac ever catalogued a convertible sedan. The body is shared with Buick Special Model 40 and Century Model 60, LaSalle Series 37-50 and 38-50 and Cadillac Series 60.
The three telltales that this is a Pontiac are the wind split stamped into the rear fenders, the shape of the taillights, and the line of mounting holes on the decklid for the famous Silver-Streaks.

It’s a convertible sedan! Like most others, it looks GM-ish to me.
I’ll say a ’40 Pontiac..I agree with the earlier posts, though.
