There aren’t many cars that can compete with a Beetle when it comes to fun displays. A pumpkin-themed Halloween getup? Well, naturally, it suits the model just fine, particularly when it’s a Super Beetle with its more bulbous nose. This one is clearly ready for some Halloween fun, along with a little after-hours partying and surfing, judging by the other items on its roof rack.
These photos come from a car show in San Salvador a few years ago, clearly held sometime in late October. One could argue that Herbie is an unusual guest in a Halloween-themed display, but then again, he’s a familiar character with a few spooky credentials of his own. After all, he even made an appearance in a nightmare-inducing sequence in its second movie.
Now, no matter how much effort goes into it, I just can’t see a first-generation Honda Fit as a threatening thing. Nevertheless, this Fit’s owner clearly placed lots of effort into the Pennywise display.
Now, let’s wrap things up with a cleaner-looking Beetle, for those who prefer to keep their Halloween fun a little less elaborate. A fitting image to close this short bit of automotive trick-or-treating.

I would posit any car from a movie passes as a costume “worn” by said automobile, particularly one where the car is possessed (Love Bug, The Car, Christine). Bring it to a local Trunk or Treat and watch the smiles.
I haven’t seen full costume cars on the street but I do see decorated cars. The most creative was a current generation Subaru Crosstrek with “ditch lights” at the base of the A pillars covered with plastic pumpkins for an illuminated display
