We’ve had some terrific posts thanks to reader tips and links, like the stunning Swiss Alpine road picture sent in by jjd241, and a couple of others. Don’t feel shy about just sending them straight to me via the Contact on the menu bar, or just e-mail me at curbsideclassics@gmail.com. I think by now you know what kind of stuff turns on the CC collective. If you put in a link in a comment, that’s ok too, as long as that means it’s ok to use.
The question is what about reader’s own Curbside Classics finds? That’s a teeny bit more complicated, because of how to just manage it if the numbers become significant. Just to download, re-size, edit and post a bunch of photos can take me a while. So I’m thinking that we either set up a CC Flickr Page or use Facebook, and allow folks to post them there. And if you send me the best of the bunch, I’ll do a post to announce them here. Or?
Update: I’m going to set up a Flickr Group Page. What shall we call it? Curbside Classic Cult?
And when someone loads up an interesting new set or car, just let me know, and we’ll do a post here to announce it. How’s that sound?
I’m completely open to any suggestions in this regard, as long as it’s a system that doesn’t get too complicated or management intensive.
There’s also the question about submissions for proper CC articles; pictures and a proper write-up. I welcome them, if they meet a couple of criteria. Before you start on one, let me know first, so it doesn’t conflict with something I have coming up soon. Second, it does need to show a reasonable degree of writing ability and perspective on the car or subject. And thirdly, you have to realize that we can’t pay (yet). Hopefully, someday. I’m working on getting some CC T-shirts!
Any other suggestions about CC so far, and what you’d like to see more or less of is always welcome. Thanks for getting us off to a pretty strong start. But please do spread the word; the more the merrier.
A Flickr group might work. I’ve got years worth of street side spottings but generally have only taken one or two photos of the same car not a multitude like your articles.
When the snow finally dissipates I’ll go find some more with more photos and a decent write up. (I wrote the Envoy Epic guest curb side classic over at The Truth About Cars so I’ll try for some Canadian flavour – Acadians or JDM imports).

Hmmm. I don’t know enough about photo hosting sites to have an opinion on them. But I can say that I really really loathe the slideshow plugin that seems to have recently become universally mandatory.
I’m assuming that applies to the one here? Any others with feelings on that subject?
My thinking was that as the number of CCs increase, it might be fun to just watch them go by on the slide show. But may be not…
I think the issue has more to do with the fact there’s such a diverse body of computers. operating systems. etc that can make slideshow plugins a major pain in the ass for those with older computers, dial-up connections or both.
But I guess no matter how it’s handled it’s a win/lose. The fans of the site just have to be patient and take the time to enjoy the site.
Well, I was referrring to the default slideshow app that pops up when I click on a pic anywhere these days. But if you mean the slideshow at the top of the home page, I’m not terribly fond if that either. In general, I don’t want anything on a web page moving unless/until I ask it to move. I find it distracting.
I don’t think it’s the top slide show he means, but the ubiquitous slide show everywhere else, as soon as more than one picture are to be shown. Like on TTAC.
I vote for a Flickr group too. For those of us who don’t have Facebook it would likely be easier than trying to create a whole dang Facebook account.
BTW just a few days ago I missed out on a great CC “Study in Contrasts” because of lack of a camera. It was a brand new Camaro parked next to a Camaro Bertillina (sp?).

I already post pictures of what I find to Facebook and Tumblr but I can see sending a post or 2 to a Flickr group.
It’s always interesting to see what happens. My suggestion is: call them as you see them. I think everybody here are aware that this is, for now, a hobby oriented non-commercial site, run by people that devote their love, time, and their own money to manage the place. Or so I imagine. If it gets too labor intensive, control the flow to a manageble level, and just say no to people, I’m sure they will understand. Or delegate the work to other people. For a good cause, people will rise to the occasion, as Robert Farago showed when he ran TTAC. As a community, we’re all friends here, or so I hope.
Flickr would be good. Geo-location would be interesting; i.e. to be able to see where you spotted the car.
I would miss the text and explanations, without them the pictures are just, well, beat up old cars.

Thanks for the shout out about the European mountain photo. I had a feeling it would pique your interest. It was one of those random finds from an anonymous tumbler page.
