Commenters in the cohort suggest this R31 Skyline must’ve been a Mary Kay car, but they’re incorrect in saying so. Cars driven by representatives of that cosmetics firm are painted a more pale color; less Pepto-y, so to speak. I am quite familiar with that shade of pink because a college classmate drove, of all things, a former Mary Kay Galant VR4. It was a car she didn’t understand and which is probably long gone, but despite being the butt of jokes, I found it to be a delightful contrast to all the Jettas and Outbacks which populated our liberal arts college campus. So while this particular Nissan’s paint job over such sober, rectilinear bodywork should be a source of disgust, the garish color similarly imparts a sense of humor to an otherwise serious machine. I like. Although, if I could get an R31, I wouldn’t care what color it came in.
Not that those were ever sold new in Aussie the only examples were race cars not road registered and not that colour, I woulda resprayed it by now if it were mine.
Perry, I assume your calling the Galant VR4 an actual MK car was made in jest.
I looked up Mary Kay cars; all are listed as GMs. But her Galant was the EXACT Mary Kay shade, so I assume it had been owned by a representative at some point. Like I said, an exact match.
In addition to it not being a GM car (typically a Cadillac/CUV or other such older mommie-mobile) A Galant VR4 just strikes me as the ultimate un-MK-mobile. I’m trying to picture the typical late-middle aged MK rep behind the wheel of one 🙂
It was a most interesting addition to the College of Wooster campus. Everyone just called it the Mary Kay car. And, given the lack of any single OTHER modification, it really seemed like a bizarre aberration.
But whatever, now I just want a Galant VR4… in dark green.
Couldn’t be a real Mary Kay. Like you said, they’re all GM cars, they’re leased to the company, and when the lease is up they’re taken back. Not sure if they get repainted, crushed, or what; but they’re definitely not resold on the used market.
So GM just takes a loss on pale pink cars and crushes them?! Ha, No. They ARE resold. Pale pink is easy to paint White diamond 😉
The body kit visually makes the car look 4×4 lifted, even though its low to the ground…some weird optical illusion. The color is awful, but hey….why not get noticed?
The nearly-solid wheels are also peculiar (and perhaps appropriate given the aftermarket wheel QOTD recently?)

Pretender. It’s a GM color. Only until very recently, all MK cars were GM. There are now black BMW’s as well.
As Bryce said the 2-door road car wasnt sold here but was raced with a 3L turbo. They are popular now ex-Japan, commonly with a 2.0 6-cyl turbo. The body kit is an aftermarket copy of the factory race version which was actually the same as the homologated road car in those days, so this is actually bigger than the race version!
