Stratton had a Jeep tow truck instead of GMC?
It might be worth to show this ad when the then new 1969 Pontiac appeared in the showroom of that Pontiac dealer.
Those 1969 ad men (& women) clearly had an ear-worm whisper-singing to them,
“Up, up & away, in my beautiful balloon……”
Zeitgeist.
I previously lived in a community about 25 miles south of Boston that had one of the very last of the “old school” Pontiac dealerships. This successful family business continues on today doing auto repair, selling a handful of used cars, and operating as a full-service Gulf station. Their building still proudly displays an old style Pontiac indian logo sign.

Stratton Pontiac, Pitman, NJ. hung on to a great concept that seems to have disappeared. Every time you stop to get gas, you see those flashy new Pontiacs. Meanwhile, you’re looking at your old jalopy with faded paint, McDonalds wrappers all over the floor and four mis-matched tires. There were no self-serve pumps in those days so you had plenty of time to scope out the surroundings. This is still true in New Jersey.
Like the red “Firebird” in “Lewisburg, PA”.
